Parents' Association

Welcome to Fleet Primary School Parents’ Association

Fleet is lucky to have a very passionate and active Parents’ Association (PA) that has been an integral part of our school community for many years. Each year, with the help of the school and local community, we raise thousands of pounds to fund new equipment, resources and school trips which help to enrich our children’s time at the school. Without this additional financial support much of this would not be possible.

As a parent/guardian at Fleet you are automatically a member of the PA and we very much welcome grandparents, other family, carers and friends to get involved.

We also try to encourage one or two parents from each class to become a class rep. Their job is to pass on information from the PA to other parents in their child’s class.

Our PA is not simply about fundraising. Aside from being a great way for parents to get to know each other, it is a fantastic way to get involved in school life. Much of our work helps to bridge the gap between home and school through our varied social events, and we firmly believe that a stronger parent community offers our children a more supportive, welcoming and enjoyable environment to learn in.

    How we fundraise for Fleet

We hold a variety of fundraising events each year, including our Summer and Christmas Fairs, the Leavers’ Disco, our weekly class teas (organised by the class reps), our international food evenings and the annual fun run.

We are also fortunate to have the support of a wonderful local community, with generous donations from local shops and businesses each year.

Another great way we are able to fundraise is through Easyfundraising – a simple and free way to raise extra funds for the school whenever you buy anything online. Details are provided below.

    Where does the money go?

The PA is a registered charity (Registered Charity Number 1170133) and all money raised goes straight back into the school.

In previous years, the PA has paid for musical instruments, sports equipment, the redevelopment of the junior playground garden area as well as a whole set of class iPads.

The school is currently trying to raise funds to improve the play facilities in the junior playground and the associated changes that are needed to the surface around climbing and play equipment. This is long overdue to offer the older children the same opportunities for physical play as the infants have in their fantastic climbing equipment. This is a major investment and something the school cannot afford without fundraising.

The PA also gives an annual contribution of £4,000 to help support the cost of over 90 class outings and two residential trips each year!

    How do I get involved?

The success of the PA relies on the efforts of the school community and there are many ways in which you can help support your school and raise funds.  We encourage everyone  to get involved; how much you do is entirely up to you.

Simply attending events with family and friends is a big help, although we do rely on the generosity of your gift donations that we auction or sell at our fairs: these can include toys, kids clothes, food items for hampers, toiletries etc.

Of course, your time is equally as valuable to us and we really welcome and depend on your help in organising and setting up events.

We would also love to hear from you if, for example, you have an interesting job that you could talk to the children about, or have access to resources that could be useful for the school.

If you would like to be more involved, or have any fundraising ideas of your own, please talk to your class reps or speak to one of our lovely PA members who can be contacted via the school office.
